3Fs Discussion Group

Sheila Cotton 681226. A ladies group meeting bimonthly in the Methodist Church on Saturday 9-10:30am for Fun, Friendship and Fellowship: discussing all manner of issues.

Archive Association

Robin Moat, 10 Leighton Road. The objectives of the Association are to establish, manage and maintain an archive of the history of Wingrave and Rowsham and to make this as accessible as is practicable to the inhabitants of the Parish and other interested persons.

Art Club

Jane Muir 681513 janefdmuir@btinternet.com. Meets second and fourth Thursday each month 7-9pm at the Methodist Church school room. Open to all of any experience or ability, meetings have still life, a model, a demonstration or a theme, no tutor but a chance to share ideas and learn from others.

Barbecues

Fortnightly barbecues for all the family are organ-ised by the WCA at the Community Centre during the summer, see the Communiqué for details.

Bell Ringers

Geoff Aldridge 681076. Ringing practice every Wednesday evening 7:45-9:15 at the Parish Church. Beginners are most welcome to come along and receive tuition; age 11 years upwards, no skill or strength needed.

Bingo

WCA organises Bingo in the Community Centre the third Friday every month at 7pm, all ages welcome.

Bridge Club

Brenda Horne 681418. Play bridge on Thursday evenings. A very friendly group who like to play well but the emphasis is on enjoyment rather than winning.

Bowls Club

Yvonne White 681548. The bowling green is situated on the Recreation Ground. Club nights Monday 6 pm. Matches are in the Bletchley League, Bucks competitions and also a series of friendly matches weekends and midweek. The Bowls Club is a mixed club.

Children’s choir

Annie Cooper 681250. Meets every Wednesday during term time 6-6:45 in the Parish Church.

Conservative Association

Barbara Evered 681342. The local branch of the Conservative Political Party.

Cricket Club

Alistair Whitehead 681183. Home matches played Sunday afternoon at Wingrave Park, practice on Tuesday evenings. New players are welcome.

Croquet Club

Richard Keighley 681235. Play croquet for fun at the Recreation Ground, regular club sessions. Come and try croquet without charge or obligation.

Football Club

Steve Rickard 681754. Saturday teams: First Team and Reserves play in the Aylesbury & District League. Any one interested in playing or helping to run the Club, please call. Veterans team: Richard White 681119.

Gentlemen’s Breakfast

Bryan Round 681621. Meets monthly on 3rd Saturday 8:55-11:00am in the Methodist Church schoolroom to discuss ideas and attitudes. Food for thought and breakfast as well!

Golfing Society

Gun Club

David Bradford 668829. Clay pigeon shoots are held every fortnight on Sunday 10am at Marsworth Airfield.

Junior Football Club

Martial Arts

Monday Choir

John Alexander 681295. A sociable and friendly group that performs a wide range of music in Wingrave and the surrounding area. Meets Mondays 8pm in the Methodist Church school room.

Netball Club

Georgie Camfield 681935 georgie.camfield@ argos.co.uk. Adults and juniors are welcome. We have 3 adult teams and a junior team playing in local leagues, but we also encourage social netball for those just wanting to have fun and play.
Juniors every Saturday morning during term time 9-10am: 7-11 years at Wingrave School, 12-14 years at Wingrave Park.
Adults anyone 14 years plus 10:15am- 11:45am at Wingrave Park.

Photographic Interest Club

A varied programme of advice and assistance with all aspects of photography, guest speakers, demonstrations and trips out. We particularly welcome individuals who are new to digital photography.

Ramblers

Peter Jones 681563. Monthly walks, 4-6 miles, on Sunday morning 9:30 to lunch time, meet Nup End Lane. All-day and evening walks in summer.

Rowsham Band

Annie Cooper 681250. www.rowshamband.co.uk The band plays for fêtes and other events in our local communities, playing mainly trad or Dixieland jazz, but also play hymns and carols for seasonal events. Generally the band will not ask for a fee, but will ask for a donation for the Air Ambulance. New members are welcome, including learners. Practice on Friday nights.

Royal British Legion

Alan Rawlings 681594. Local branch of this national organisation aimed at helping all ex-servicemen and servicewomen. Social functions arranged.

Scouts & Cubs

All meetings held in the Scout Hut, Chiltern Road.Beavers: Sue Ascott 07836 274060. Boys and girls 6-8 years meet Monday 6-7 pm.Cub Scouts: Nikki Reeve 681372. Boys and girls 8-10½ years meet Tuesday 6:30-8:00 pm.Scouts: Currently closed, any one interested in leading the group should contact Jeff Pollard 625454.

Tea Dance

Sandy 07918 167217. www.swingrave.co.uk. S-Wing-Rave is the UK’s hottest tea dance. First Sunday in the month at the Community Centre, workshops 2-4pm dance 4-8pm.

Tennis Club

Neil Pitman 681416 neil.pitman@aquaforest.com www.wingravetennisclub.org.uk. Friendly group catering for all ages and standards with coaching sessions, casual play and matches. Club sessions every Monday 7:30pm, Friday 9am, junior sessions Saturday 10:15am. The courts are at Wingrave Park.

Twinning Association

Tony Horne 681418. Wingrave has twinned with La Bouëxière in Brittany for over 20 years. Regular family exchanges, which are reciprocated by our French friends, and social events.

WARGAS

J Gomm 681391. Wingrave And Rowsham Garden and Allotment Society. Allotment plots in Winslow Road, visits to places of interest and seeds sale. The annual show in July is especially noted for the high standard of sweet pea exhibits.

WEA Wingrave Branch

Roberta Smith 681219. Workers Educational Association. Series of evening and day courses on a variety of subjects in the spring and autumn at the Methodist Church school room.

Wing Antiquarian Society

Barbara Evered 681342. Visits to museums, exhibitions, country houses and various other places of interest.

Wingrave Singers

Liz Morgan 681101. The choir has achieved a very high standard, performing concerts in the Parish Church and singing the services in various cathedrals around the country. Rehearsals in the Parish Church on Fridays 7:45-9:30pm, open to anyone with a good voice and sight reading ability.

Women's Institute

Mary Mountain 681354. The local branch of this respected national organisation meets on the first Wednesday each month in the Methodist Church school room 7:30-9:30 pm.

Yoga Class

Paul 680454. Everyone is welcome to classes at Wingrave School Thursday 7:30-9pm.

Youth Centre

Ilona Harding 681571. Boys and girls 12-17 years meet Thursday 7:30-9:30pm in term time in the Community Centre; various sport and social activities. Volunteers, particularly male, are needed.
