5.1 Findings
- On-street parking is an issue in the village because:
o many of the older properties have little or no off-street parking,
o many of the streets in the village have no footpaths,
o current AVDC planning policy admits to only 1.5 cars per new dwelling.
- Parking along parts of Winslow Road makes emergence hazardous from
some of the side streets including Nup End (Figure 8) and Cat Street
(Castle Street).
- Short-term parking outside the village shop, Figure 9, is desirable
and also slows down traffic along this section of Winslow Road by creating
alternating traffic flows.
- Parking in Chiltern Road is a particular problem; Public Service and
emergency vehicles cannot have access when cars are irregularly parked on
each side of the carriageway.

5.2 Recommendations
- A policy needs to be agreed of locations where on-street parking is acceptable, perhaps in conjunction with traffic calming measures, and of
suitable verge or off-street locations where cars might more safely be
parked to make walking and cycling; around the village less hazardous.
- Parking in Winslow Road should be I restricted to allow adequate
sight lines for traffic emerging from side streets.
- Better provision should be made in Chiltern Road for off-street
parking.
- There needs to be an acknowledgement in AVDC planning policy that
communities like Wingrave, that have sparse public transport, require
provision for more than 1.5 cars per dwelling. Otherwise roads near new
development will become increasingly congested by resident's and their
visitor's parked cars.
